I think we all know where the answer lie for why the Children of the 21st century don't laugh any more

Children of the 21st century

The good old days as I remember them were just that, the good old days. Children of the 21st century

Playing hopscotch hide and seek even a game of rounders was all in a day's fun for a thirteen year old in the good old days. Of course all good things come to an end when called in against your will and ordered up the stairs to wash behind your ears before bed, while the children of the 21st century slap on war paint to disguise their identities for approval into many disco night clubs. .

Succeeding in their mission to gain those added years they would then dance and party till dawn, while I remember back to my navy blue knickers and white vest hanging up to dry in front of an open coal fire for school the next morning.

The nature and attitude of the Children of the 21st century is so different from the days long gone. Children today have a lifestyle not a childhood, whose fault is that I ask. Where do the answers lie?

Remembering back to the words of Mother in the good old days, "There is your dinner"! Now it is "what you would like for dinner"? Another household saying of Mum's was "I can not afford that". Twenty first century mums can by doing an extra shift at work.

And in the in the good old days the threats cast upon us from Mother, threats like, are you looking for a good hiding, No I was not looking for a good hiding, but you never dared to answer back unless of course you were looking for another clout. Nowadays it is the other way round, where a great many Mothers live under threat from their own flesh and blood.

"Where do the answers lie" I ask myself once again.

Drinking was strictly for the adults in the good old days not for teens on the street corner who are not long out of nappies. Drugs in the good old days were prescribed by a Doctor not a dealer, the only dealer we knew of in those days were the ones who dealt the cards in a game of snap.

Will the Children of the 21st Century ever learn? Yes given the right teacher, that being Mummy and Daddy, then as your star pupil begins to grow up he learns to respect his/her elders, that now being Mum or Dad.

Giving into your children's needs and wants is not helping them for the big bad world out there, teach them to stand on their own two feet and if that means going back to the good old days then so be it. Which isn't so bad just to hear the laughter of children growing up in their own time.

I think we all know where the answer lie for why the Children of the 21st century don't laugh any more.

Migraine pain is often described as throbbing or pulsating pain that is intensified by routine physical activity

Migraine

A migraine is a throbbing or pulsating headache that is often one sided (unilateral) and associated with nausea; vomiting; sensitivity to light, sound, smells; sleep disruption, and depression. Attacks are often recurrent and tend to become less severe as the migraine sufferer ages.

Types

Migraines are classified according to the symptoms they produce. The two most common types are migraine with aura and migraine without aura. Less common types include the following: Basilar artery migraine, Carotidynia, Headache-free migraine, Ophthalmoplegic migraine, Status migraine.

Some women experience migraine headaches just prior to or during menstruation. These headaches, which are called menstrual migraines, may be related to hormonal changes and often do not occur during pregnancy. Other women develop migraines for the first time during pregnancy or after menopause.

Incidence and Prevalence

Migraines afflict about 24 million people in the United States. They may occur at any age, but usually begin between the ages of 10 and 40 and diminish after age 50. Some people experience several migraines a month, while others have only a few migraines throughout their lifetime. Approximately 75% of migraine sufferers are women.

Causes

The cause of migraine is unknown. The condition may result from a series of reactions in the central nervous system caused by changes in the body or in the environment. There is often a family history of the disorder, suggesting that migraine sufferers may inherit sensitivity to triggers that produce inflammation in the blood vessels and nerves around the brain, causing pain.

Signs and Symptoms

Migraine pain is often described as throbbing or pulsating pain that is intensified by routine physical activity, coughing, straining, or lowering the head. The headache is often so severe that it interferes with daily activity and may awaken the person. The attack is debilitating, and migraine sufferers are often left feeling tired and weak once the headache has passed.

A migraine typically begins in a specific area on one side of the head, then spreads and builds in intensity over 1 to 2 hours and then gradually subsides. It can last up to 24 hours, and in some cases, several days.

Getting the vitamins and minerals we need is critical to maintaining good health as we get older

Vitamin

Far from the Flintstones shapes many of us chewed as kids, adult vitamins provide nutrients needed by a full-grown body. While vitamins are abundant in many foods, many adults do not follow diets that provide all of the vitamins and nutrients needed; a supplement can help augment our daily intake.

Like children, adults need certain vitamins to help our bodies function properly. Vitamins can also help prevent certain types of diseases. For example, vitamin D helps strengthen bones and reduce risk of osteoporosis. Vitamin A enhances vision, and vitamin C helps fight colds. Vitamin B can give us energy, which is certainly necessary in today's busy world. And vitamin E helps skin stay taut, which is definitely a bonus as we begin to age.

Some vitamins are fat-soluble, while others are water-soluble. The first type of vitamins is stored until the body can use the nutrients. These include vitamins A, D, E, and K. The latter type directly enters the blood stream, and what isn't used is excreted through the urine. These vitamins-vitamins B and C, in particular-need to constantly be replenished.

If you are not into popping pills, there are indeed ways to up your vitamin intake by adjusting your diet. These foods are high in vitamins:

Vitamin A

Eggs, milk, carrots, spinach, nectarines, canteloupe, apricots, sweet potatoes

B Vitamins

(There are several types of B vitamins)

Whole grains, seafood, meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, beans, peas, citrus fruits

Vitamin C

Citrus fruits, canteloupe, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage

Vitamin D

Dairy products, fish, egg yolks

Vitamin E

Whole grains, green leafy vegetables, nuts, egg yolks, sardines

Vitamin K

Green leafy vegetables, dairy products, pork, green leafy vegetables

If you are able to get the vitamins you need directly from the foods you eat, you will benefit most greatly. If not, there are many multi-vitamins available over the counter that will help you reach your nutritional needs. Getting the vitamins and minerals we need is critical to maintaining good health as we get older. Those chewable vitamins you took as a child started the job; it is your responsibility to maintain it!

No matter what, don't give up

No matter what, don't give up

It's easier to get menopause relief today than ever before. Store shelves and Web sites offer a multitude of products promising menopause relief for the menopause weary. Before buying and/or taking any type of medication, whether over the counter or prescribed, it's a good idea to explore your options and become educated on what's available.

In order to begin searching for menopause relief treatments, it's a good idea to make a list of your menopause symptoms. After you've made your list, rate each symptom for its severity and the impact it's having on your daily living. Different medications and different dosages will give varying menopause relief and are used for specific menopause issues. It won't do you any good to take a herbal menopause treatment for hot flashes if it isn't specifically for hot flashes. Many women do not get the menopause relief they need because they're simply using the wrong medication to treat the conditions caused by menopause.

Another reason many women do not get adequate menopause relief is because their health care providers and physicians are not as up to date on menopause treatments as they might be. So going into your doctor's office with a list of symptoms and perhaps even menopause home test results can be a big help in letting your physician know what sort of treatment you really need. If you feel your health care provider isn't all that knowledgeable in regard to menopause and treatments for menopause relief, shop around for one that is. Yes, it's perfectly okay to change doctors in order to find one who is both up to date on the latest treatments as well as one who will treat the whole you rather than just a symptom or test result.

And don't forget there's a great deal you can do on your own to get menopause relief. Exercise, diet, stress management, and adequate sleep are all things that can provide you with a great deal of menopause relief. There are also many books on menopause that will give you strategies and tips for relieving menopause symptoms. Online discussion boards and forums are also a good way to find support that can give you much needed menopause relief. No matter what, don't give up. Menopause relief is possible if you just keep looking for the treatment or treatments that are best for you.

Many women also experience emotional symptoms during menopause

Many women also experience emotional symptoms during menopause

Menopause is the time in a woman's life when her periods stop and she is then unable to bear children. This happens because as a woman ages, her ovaries stop making enough of the female hormones estrogen and progesterone.

Some women just stop having periods. Others experience symptoms, such as:
  • A change in the menstrual cycle. This is one of the first signs of menopause.
  • Hot flashes. Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause.
  • Thinning of your vagina and vulva (the area around the vagina). The skin of your vagina and vulva becomes thinner with menopause.
  • Urinary tract problems.
  • Headaches, night sweats, trouble sleeping and tiredness are other symptoms.
Trouble sleeping and feeling tired may be caused by hot flashes and night sweats

Many women also experience emotional symptoms during menopause. These symptoms may include sadness, anxiety and loss of sleep. For some women, symptoms can be severe and they might need to seek treatment for these independently of the physical symptoms.

If menopause hot flashes are really beginning to get you down, but you don't want to go the route of artificial HRT, then you might want to start considering some of the great natural alternatives that are now available. Wild yam cream, for example, has been giving women relief from menopause hot flashes for many years now. Wild yam is gentler on the body than HRT treatments, and so a little slower to work sometimes. It does work, however, and doesn't bring with it the risks associated with artificial hormone replacement either.

Other supplements that can be used to help alleviate menopause hot flashes include vitamin E. Vitamin E has a number of additional uses for use by menopausal women. It can help keep the skin in good condition, and more importantly, keeps the heart healthy too.
